The Who section is part of the targeting step, along with the choice of the target pages (Where section) and the triggering conditions (How section).
π Definition
A segment is a group of visitors with shared characteristics (identity, interests or habits) based on historical data identified in the long-term. It is made up of one or several segmentation criteria divided into the following categories: browsing behavior, geographic, psychographic, purchasing behavior, technographic, data integration.
βοΈ Configuration
To define your segment, you can either configure campaign targeting for all visitors, use an existing segment or build your segment.
Targeting all visitors
The All visitors option is selected by default. This means no segmentation criteria are defined and all the users who visit the target pages will be targeted.
Using a saved segment
You can apply a previously saved segment to your current campaign. The list of all the saved segments is available directly from the drop-down list. Before using a saved segment, you can edit it and save your changes. However, you cannot edit a segment that is already used in one or several live campaign(s) as it will affect the results of this/these campaign(s). In this case, we recommend creating another segment.
Building a new segment
You can also create a segment by combining one or several segmentation criteria.
After building your segment, you need to save it in case you want to reuse it for other campaigns. Otherwise, the segment will be unique and linked to this campaign only.
β Good to know
Saved segments are available in the Segments tab of the Audience screen. From here, you can edit, duplicate, archive or activate a saved segment. You can also access KPI such as the traffic share and transaction rate.
π‘ Use case
Letβs say you have implemented a popin to display a coupon code that you want to offer your most loyal visitors only. In another campaign, you want to display a popin with a promotional offer to the exact same segment of visitors.
To do this, you need to create a segment and save it, to be able to reuse it in your second campaign:
- Select Create new segment from the dropdown list.
- Drag the Engagement level criterion and drop it into the middle section and select Loyal visitors.
- Drag the Last purchase criterion and drop it into the AND section and select less than > 30 days ago.
- Name your segment (for example VIP clients) and click Save.
- Click Save step.
In the targeting part of your second campaign, select the VIP client segment directly from the drop-down list.
