Previous step: Configuring variations
When creating variations, you need to define the percentage of visitors assigned to each one.
We recommend assigning the same volume of visitors to each variation in order to guarantee comparable samples.
Therefore, when creating an A/B test, assign 50 % of visitors to variation A and 50 % to variation B.
When creating an A/B/C test, assign one third of your visitors to each variation.
Your total traffic must always equal 100 % of visitors.
To configure the visitor percentage for each variation, apply the following steps:
- Go to the Traffic allocation field.
- Enter a percentage (i.e. 50 for two variations or 33 for three variations).
Each time you add a variation, you need to adjust the traffic allocation accordingly.
Decreasing the percentage of visitors to a variation
If necessary, you can subject a lower percentage of visitors to a given variation. To do this, before calling up the AB Tasty API, you can use a function to define the percentage of visitors to be subjected to the test.
The math.random function, which is used by many development languages, selects a random number within a range of minimum and maximum values, thus enabling you to define an interval for the AB Tasty API to be applied to. For an example, refer to Implementing a test.
